Training takes approximately six months: eight weeks of personal development, followed by youth counselling skills training. Once qualified, you'll do 2–3 shifts per month (each about 3 hours) with monthly clinical supervision.
Minimum 1–2 year commitment. Must be 17 or older. Police vetting required. $80 registration fee for training (fee waivers available).
Youthline has centres in Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, Palmerston North, and other regions. Two training intakes per year, typically March and August.
