Our mission

2026 is the International Year of Volunteers (IVY 2026), declared by the United Nations. We believe this is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to build shared infrastructure for the volunteer sector in New Zealand.

Our goal is simple: make volunteering easier for everyone. For volunteers, that means one place to discover and manage opportunities. For charities, it means free tools to reach more helpers. For companies, it means easy team volunteering for social impact and sustainability goals.

Volunteers is built by PurposeTech, a New Zealand-based company that builds volunteer management software for charities. PurposeTech helps organisations manage street appeals, events, and disaster recovery operations.

We built Volunteers as shared infrastructure for the sector — a free, public platform that benefits everyone. When charities need more advanced tools (shift scheduling, real-time check-ins, donor management), PurposeTech is there for them.

For charities: Create a free account, list your opportunities, and receive volunteer signups directly. No fees, no limits on the number of volunteers.
