Department of Conservation

Location

Auckland

Tiritiri Matangi Island, Hauraki Gulf

When

Ongoing

Spend up to a week on Tiritiri Matangi, one of Aotearoa's most successful open wildlife sanctuaries. You'll assist rangers with track maintenance, weeding, painting, and cleaning the visitor centre.

The island is home to some of New Zealand's rarest birds — takahē, kōkako, hihi, and little spotted kiwi. Accommodation is provided in the volunteer bunkhouse.

Medium fitness required. A unique opportunity to contribute to conservation on a predator-free island in the Hauraki Gulf.
