When

Ongoing

Be matched one-on-one with a person with an intellectual disability. You'll spend time together doing things you both enjoy — coffee, walks, movies, outings, or whatever suits you both.

Commitment is approximately 2 hours per fortnight, with a preferred minimum of one year (with the hope the friendship continues beyond that). IHC provides full induction, training on communication and disability awareness, and ongoing coordinator support.

Must be 17 or older. Police vetting conducted and repeated every three years. Available nationwide — if there's no local coordinator in your area, the online friendship programme (by phone or video call) is also available.
