Volunteer English Tutor

English Language Partners NZ

Location

Nationwide

When

Ongoing

English Language Partners trains volunteers to tutor English one-on-one with adults from migrant and refugee backgrounds, usually in the learner's home. No teaching background is needed – just confident everyday English and a genuine interest in helping someone settle into life in New Zealand.

Tutors commit around one to two hours a week for lessons and planning, alongside free training towards an NZQA-approved Certificate in ESOL Home Tutoring (those with relevant experience can fast-track this). The minimum commitment is six months with your learner.

With 21 centres around the country, apply online and you'll be interviewed by your local centre before training begins.
