Backyard Trapper — Wellington

Predator Free Wellington

Location

Wellington

Your backyard — any Wellington suburb

When

Ongoing

Join your local Predator Free Wellington trapping group and help protect native birds in your neighbourhood. You'll maintain a trap (or traps) on your property and report catches via the Trap.NZ app.

Predator Free Wellington provides the trap, training (3 hours), and ongoing support. You check your trap weekly — it takes about 5 minutes.

58 community trapping groups cover virtually every suburb in Wellington. Native birds are already returning to areas where trapping is underway. Kākā, kererū, and tūī are thriving thanks to volunteers like you.
